Suzanne’s “aha” moment came years ago when a question she posed to a financial advisor was read out loud in front of the audience. She had asked what she could do NOW to assure a good retirement in the future. Before the advisor could say a word, Suzanne heard in her own mind the answer: get healthy! The realization that her health was her most valuable personal asset sparked a transformation.
Sensing she was stuck on a path to a staid mid-life, Suzanne chose to embrace her somewhat-unconventional side and midwifed a vastly different future for herself. The first step was trying out new activities and restarting old ones; she picked up belly dancing and started riding a motorcycle again.
Dealing with health issues – family members’ and her own – fanned her passion for all things health and wellness and fueled her decision to become a health coach. Through her training as an Integrative Health Coach, Suzanne helps clients achieve profound and positive change in their health, wellness, and overall life perspective. She partners with them as they develop a vision of the life they most want to live and works with them to identify and achieve the goals necessary to live that life.
She is attuned to the requirements of personal reinvention, and her areas of personal experience include smoking cessation, dietary changes, incorporating exercise and mindfulness practices into daily life, perceiving life as an adventure, taking risks, and dealing with major surgery, to name a few.
Until recently, Suzanne’s work life has been focused on small business, in both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. She is best known in her community as the past Executive Director and past President of Sheldrake Environmental Center, where she was instrumental in transforming two small community organizations into one unified, professionally run non-profit environmental education center.
She has a Master of Public Administration in Non-Profit Administration from New York University and a Bachelor of Science from Boston University in Public Relations. Happily married to the same musical fellow who captured her heart 32 years ago, she lives in the Catskill region of New York. Their two kids are making their own way in the world and, to her delight, they love to come home once in a while. In 2010 she gave up her goal to run a marathon (when she finally admitted to herself she wasn’t even jogging anymore) and now loves training and racing short to mid-distance triathlons as a solid back-of-the-packer.
Suzanne is a certified Integrative Health Coach trained through Duke Integrative Medicine’s Integrative Health Coaching Professional Training program and is a certified Primal Health Coach through the Primal Health Coach Institute. She is a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach.
